The Peterborough Small Business Awards

Nov 17, 2023

Celebrating SME's

Founded in 2016, The Peterborough Small Business Awards are the only national awards programme in the UK specifically for small and micro businesses.

They aim to inspire, achieve, and reward small business through their local award events, for this often forgotten but very important sector.

Founder Laura Steele started the Small Business Awards, after seeing a huge gap in the market to champion and inspire other SMALL business owners. She runs an awards programme across the East Midlands with further areas coming in 2024.

What is a small business?

Small and micro businesses are businesses whose employee numbers are 49 or less. They make up more than 60% of all UK registered businesses and are generally those who lead innovation and uphold community values - the pillars of local towns and cities.

Whether it’s a cozy café, a family run business or a tech savvy start up, The Small Business Awards shines a light on exceptional businesses that deserve the recognition.

The Peterborough Small Business Awards

Now in its 8th successful year, The Peterborough Small Business Awards rewards incredible local small businesses across the greater Peterborough area and celebrates those who lead innovation and uphold community values.

Our CEO Gemma has always been a champion for Small Businesses.  Since founding GGM Accountancy in 2010, Gemma supports many local businesses with professional accountancy services, and over the years GGM Accountancy has expanded its sponsorships and charity work to help give back to local organisations.

With a passion to support her local community, Gemma was delighted to win Small Business Hero in 2022 for outstanding support and commitment to small businesses at The Peterborough Small Business Awards.  She also had the honour to judge and present an award, and GGM Accountancy were the proud headline sponsor for this year’s prestigious event.

How you can enter your business

The Small Business Awards welcome all entries from any small and micro business within the areas listed.

This criteria for small businesses are taken and updated in line with the government directive from the UK government and can be found the GOV.UK website.

Nominations and entries open for 2024 in January. If you would like to nominate a small business within your area or nominate yourself, all the details can be found on The Small Business Awards website

Winning an award can boost visibility of a small business, increase client confidence in your business as well as the amazing feel-good factor that winning an award brings.

Good luck!
